Jessa Marfal grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. Her first job as Monsoon’s youth intern helped her connect with the Asian community. Being half Filipina, Jessa sometimes struggled to find a sense of community in Iowa. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Iowa State University, she worked with the Iowa Department of Corrections and a family law attorney practice. Pursuing her passion for law and justice, Jessa will enter her final semester of law school in the Fall of 2024. Jessa has developed a keen interest in immigration law and is deeply committed to assisting underrepresented communities. Jessa actively speaks to students of color to encourage them to pursue higher education and to believe in their potential. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, Manny Puppiao and Moose.
